NewbieMaps

Free · Windows · No account needed

Know where you are. Know where to go.

A small, lightweight map that runs next to Escape from Tarkov. It shows where you are, which way you’re facing, where the extracts are and where your quest objectives are. And it never touches the game.

Your spot updates whenever you press PrintScreen. It’s not constant tracking.

What you get

Where you are, and where you’re looking

Hit PrintScreen in game and the app drops you on the map, with an arrow showing which way you’re facing.

Extracts, named like in the game

Every extract on the map you’re playing, with its real in-game name and whether it’s for PMC, Scav or both.

Your quests, on the map

Pick the quests you’re working on (PvP, PvE or Season) and see roughly where their objectives are.

Light, and separate from the game

It’s a small window that sits next to the game. It doesn’t touch the game’s files or memory.

How it works

  1. 1

    Download and open it

Unzip it or run the installer, then open NewbieMaps.

  2. 2

    Let it find the game

It finds the game’s screenshots folder on its own, so there’s nothing to set up.

  3. 3

    Jump into a raid

It picks up the map from the game’s log. If it gets it wrong, just choose the map yourself from the selector.

  4. 4

    Press PrintScreen

The app reads the screenshot’s file name and shows where you are and which way you’re looking.

  5. 5

    Choose your quests

Tick the quests you’re doing (PvP, PvE or Season) and their rough objective locations show up on the map.

  6. 6

    Check the extracts

They’re marked with their official names, as PMC, Scav or shared.

  7. 7

    Keep it on top

Hit Top to keep the window over the game, or Large to make it bigger.

It stays out of your game, and you can check that

NewbieMaps is a separate program. Here’s the full list of what it does and what it doesn’t.

What it reads

  • The file names of the screenshots the game saves.
  • The log files the game writes on its own.

What it never does

  • Read the game’s memory.
  • Read or change the game’s DLLs.
  • Inject code or edit game files.
  • Show other players, bosses or loot.
  • Do anything in the game for you.
  • Send your data to any server.

Using any third-party tool is at your own risk, and the final call always belongs to the game’s publisher.

Maps

Nine maps are included.

  • Factorytested in raid
  • Customsbeta
  • Shorelinebeta
  • Interchangebeta
  • Reservebeta
  • Lighthousebeta
  • Streets of Tarkovbeta
  • Ground Zerobeta
  • Woodsbeta

So far, only Factory has been confirmed in a real raid. The other maps are still in beta, and the map art is being redrawn.

The checksum will show up here with the first release.

The first versions aren’t code-signed, so Windows may warn you about an “unknown publisher”. Before running the file, check that its SHA-256 matches the one listed here.

FAQ

Does the app read the game’s memory?

No. It only reads the names of screenshot files and the log files the game writes.

Does it show enemies?

No. It only shows where you are, the extracts and your quest objectives.

Does it work in exclusive fullscreen?

We haven’t tested that yet. Windowed or borderless mode is the safe bet, since the app window can stay on top of the game.

Which maps are included?

Factory, Customs, Shoreline, Interchange, Reserve, Lighthouse, Streets of Tarkov, Ground Zero and Woods.

Is it really free?

Yes. Donations are optional and don’t unlock anything.
